ACTION PACKED DAYS FULL OF FUN AND LEARNING
Every PerfX Hockey Camp and Masterclass is carefully designed to offer a perfect blend of fun and learning. Players take part in hockey practices, competitions and games where they can immediately apply what they’ve learned.
Players can expect to improve the smaller details in their game — our coaching team has a habit of finding the minor changes that make a big difference. Most importantly, players will have loads of fun, meet new friends, and leave with greater confidence and a better understanding of the game.
Why do PerfX camps run for 1, 2 or 3 days?
We decide whether camps run for 1 day, 2 days or 3 days based on a number of factors, including:
- What works best for that location during that holiday
- Historical sign-up trends and what we know parents/players prefer locally
- Ensuring our national schedule stays high quality across all venues
Camp formats explained
1 Day Masterclasses
A high-energy, in-season performance boost designed to make an immediate impact. Each masterclass covers two key areas in one day — one attacking theme and one defending theme — giving players a complete, game-ready upgrade they can take straight into matches.
2 Day Camps
Our camps are built around 2-day delivery, because it creates the best balance of learning, repetition, and match application.
- Day 1: Teaching + detail + skill building
- Day 2: Execution + decision-making + game application
3 Day Camps
Our 3-day camps go deeper and include additional performance elements, with more time for repetition, feedback, and progression.
Typically:
- Day 1–2: Teaching, development, learning the details
- Day 3: Execution, performance challenges, and applying skills under pressure
Can I book for single days?
Yes - absolutely.
We know families have busy schedules, so players can book single days even on multi-day camps. However, it’s important to understand the full camp is designed as a progression, meaning:
- a player attending all days receives the full learning journey
- a player attending Day 2 or Day 3 only may miss key taught content from earlier days
We’ll always make sure every player enjoys the day and gets quality coaching — but for the full PerfX experience, we recommend booking the full camp where possible.
Are PerfX camps different in each school holiday?
Yes! We have carefully designed a 24-month delivery syllabus meaning each camp is specifically designed for where the player is in their learning journey as well as the time of year that it is. By considering the phase of the season, we are able to ensure we give each player exactly what they are looking for at that moment in time.
Summer Camps: Get players ready for the season ahead
Summer is our pre-season performance window. Camps are designed to sharpen technical ability, rebuild match confidence, and prepare players to hit the ground running in September.
Players can expect:
- technical tune-ups across core skills
- match-related conditioning and speed of play
- decision-making in game scenarios
- confidence-building challenges and competitions
- a performance mindset heading into trials and selection periods
October & February Camps: Refine performance in-season
These camps are designed to improve the smaller details that affect weekend performance. Players are already training and playing matches — so the focus is on refining, not rebuilding.
Players can expect:
- technique correction (first touch, body position, execution under pressure)
- in-season attacking and defending detail
- decision-making under realistic pressure
- repeated game scenarios (what happens every Saturday)
- habits and standards that translate immediately into match performance
Easter & May Camps: Love the game
These camps are about enjoyment, expression and confidence — players spend more time playing, competing and learning through the game itself. Players will also be able to keep their hockey playing level up to scratch ahead of summer activities such as age group matches and the Talent Academy Cup.
Players can expect:
- lots of small-sided games and competitive play
- creativity and freedom to express skills
- confidence and enjoyment-led coaching
- team challenges, fun formats and high energy
- building a love of the game while still improving performance
What we coach (and why it works)
Mission: Improve the players’ technical ability
A player will only choose to use a particular skill in their decision making if their ability level when executing the technique is good enough to allow success.
With this in mind, PerfX camps have a heavy focus on technical skill development. In the modern era this can be missed slightly — yet it’s still one of the most important parts of player development.
This doesn’t mean we drill players into the ground military style. It means we coach detail properly, then build it into realistic games.
Whole–Part–Whole coaching
Our method follows the whole–part–whole approach:
1. Identify the skill in the game
2. Build the technique in detail
3. Apply it again through small-sided games designed to create repetition and opportunity
